A message from Al McCullough:

YOU’RE INVITED

A GATHERING OF RETAIL REAL ESTATE ICONS

You are receiving this email for at least one of the following 10 reasons.  What might they be?

  1. You are or have been in the shopping center business for a long time.
  2. You are or were considered one of the icons of your chosen profession (even if only in your own mind).
  3. You represented at least one Landlord/Developer or Retailer no longer in business.
  4. Although you took the business seriously… you didn’t take yourself seriously.
  5. Someone surfaced your name as a person that liked to sit around and talk about how things use to be.
  6. You were recognized as someone who liked to have fun.
  7. You have retired from the business but miss the relationships.
  8. Looking back on your career, the thing you miss the most is the expense account.
  9. You are still involved in the business and believe it is better than it ever was (for those in this category we have a board certified request for a temporary leave of absence from your facility).
  10. You are old.

During the so called “Good old days” , ICSC had Idea Exchanges and National events throughout the year.  From those events we got to see many of our friends and business associates.  A very illustrious group (in their own minds) has decided to meet for the purpose of renewing friendships, swapping stories, paying our respects by hoisting a beverage or two in honor of some of our comrades who have moved on to the Mega Mall in the sky.

Please feel good about yourself, for you are still remembered by those putting this “Reunion” of sorts together.  Yes, the same people that have difficulty remembering what they had for breakfast.

I have been informed by several of the “older” Macerich team members, lead by Mr. Ron Bondy, that they started to plan this “Come Together” last year but were of course stopped in their tracks by Covid-19.  So here we go again with high hopes and great resolve that the second attempt will succeed.

The gathering and activities will be fine-tuned as we begin to get feedback as to how many will decide to join us.  We hope you are one.  Herein are the bones of the gathering along with the names and email addresses of those receiving invitations.  If there are others that come to mind that we have overlooked please let us know.  Please RSVP to Taylor at tkcmccullough@outlook.com and be sure to watch for email updates from her address.

Invitees: See below.

If you have contact information for those listed without a known email address, please provide that information to Taylor at tkcmccullough@outlook.com.  Please let us know if there are others that come to mind that we have overlooked.

Henry, thank you for the introduction.  Capstone has been engaged by 160 Driving Academy as the exclusive tenant/buyer rep for the Topeka deal.  We have partnered with Henry as the local agent to assist facilitating the transaction.

Capstone and MCRE, LLC are working directly with Terry Hardin and his team to locate a property.   Henry will be the local contact moving forward.

We are looking forward to finding a new location for 160 Drive Academy in the Topeka area.   Have a great evening.

Capstone is the National Broker

Corey Sedrel and Tom Swenson are my contacts.

They have engaged MCRE, LLC for the Topeka deal.

As you are mixing the messages I’m moving forward with deals.

Sometimes Go Topeka acts as a real estate agent in my opinion.

Matt, your politics is exhausting.

Henry,

We are excited too! Can you share who you are working with on the 160 team or the broker they have assigned? We have been talking with 160 directly and are hearing some mixed messages.

Thanks!

Matt / Molly

We are really excited that 160 is choosing Topeka.

I’m working with the exclusive nationwide  Brokers.

We’ll cut through all the politics and just get a deal done.

Must have gravel or concrete to make this happen.

We are pinning down the job count – I can say over 100 to 300 new truck drivers will be placed with 160 in Topeka.

Asking for FREE land is not outrageous, especially when the mill Levy hike on the table

https://www.ksnt.com/news/local-news/proposed-topeka-budget-includes-2-increase-from-2021-no-mill-levy-hike/

The sooner 160 is open they will be paying real estate taxes and creating drivers for all the distribution centers we have grown

Call me if you have any questions.

The original reason to extend the $0.25 cent sale tax was to create shovel ready land.

We have gone long on distribution center and being a hub for truck drivers can on help.

I’d like JEDO to donate the land for 160 Driving

160 Driving Academy was founded in 2012, headquartered in Evanston, Illinois, with roughly 300 full-time employees. The company consists of 35+ CDL A training locations throughout the U.S. 160’s goal is to be the premier adult education institution and job creator. Over the next 12 months, their goal is to place over 8,000 drivers in new jobs throughout the country.
